Thakoon: Kicked Out of Cabs?
Chic ran into Thakoon Panichgul last night during the Australians in New York Fashion Foundation’s summer cocktail party at the Crosby Street Hotel. The designer toted along his miniature pup, Stevie, who seemed to enjoy all the Oz-themed revelry. “Mostly she just sleeps when I take her out,” he laughed. “No one really notices her when I’m at events. I’ve never been kicked out for bringing a dog, at least! Although I have been kicked out of cabs. They see her, and say, ‘Get out!’ I mean, how much damage can a tiny dog really do?”

Lunching With Aliona
Just a day before the announcement that Aliona Doletskaya would step down from her post as EIC of Vogue Russia, the magazine's web site posted this video of Jean Paul Gaultier chatting with the editrix over lunch. Our favorite moment? Gaultier recalling the time he was mistaken for Christian Lacroix ("No, Sonia Rykiel!" he responded.) As day two of this Russo-saga unfolds, Chic is still wondering ... will Victoria Davydova be asked to fill Doletskaya's shoes? And can she? Editors who can charm a finicky French legend in the middle of Red Square whilst chain smoking don't come along every day ...

Balenciaga's Shoe Art
Darlings, we all know fashion is an artform, right? Sure we do. But Balenciaga’s Fall 2010 collection gives the trope a whole new meaning. Chic is obsessed with the geometrically designed heels and platforms. Lace-up or moccasin-style, they're guaranteed to turn heads from SoHo to Milano. How can you say no?

Does Rachel Zoe Still Want to Edit a Magazine?
Earlier today, Chic had a chance to catch up with celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe as she promoted the upcoming season of The Rachel Zoe Project. She dished on the top five items every woman should own, meeting Karl Lagerfeld ... yadda, yadda, yadda. But with all this editrix shuffling, all we really wanted to know was: Does she still wanna be an EIC?
“To be honest, I never say never. I think being an editor in chief of a magazine is a huge, huge job. In order to do that, all the other parts of my job would have to be pushed aside,” she said. “I can’t imagine doing that in the near future. If I did do that, it would be a hybrid of a few magazines like W, Bazaar, Elle, Vogue, Love, V, Visionaire. I think it would incorporate a lot of art and high fashion and interviews with interesting people. It would definitely be oversized! With beautiful images and great photography. But that’s a huge, huge job.”
