"Kelsey Chow has the rare combination of youth and elegance, poise and charm, and down home gentility. Perhaps it’s her Southern upbringing in South Carolina, her multicultural and highly-educated parents, and her commitment to completing her higher education at Columbia University whilst starring in Disney XD’s cult series Pair of Kings. We were lucky enough to catch up with our favorite ingénue for lunch during our stay at the ever-fashionable Mondrian in Los Angeles. With the sun shining, the pool as a backdrop, and the food as delicious as ever, we couldn’t imagine a more perfect afternoon. After freshening up in our suite with glorious views of the Hollywood Hills, we weren’t surprised to see Kelsey, exactly on time, lounging on the navy velvet tufted sofa in the well-appointed lobby of the hotel. Ms. Chow’s beauty is unique and inspirational. It is abundantly clear that this preeminent young professional has a tremendous career ahead of her, and we look forward to watching it unfold.
Claude: So how did you get your start as an actress?
Well, I had done a lot of community theatre where I grew up in South Carolina. Ragtime and Charlie Brown were some of my favorites.
Brian: What character did you play in Charlie Brown?
I played Lucy. It was so fun. She's in love with Schroeder, the piano player. He is so intense and introverted.
Brian: Claude could be Charlie Brown! He even looks like him!
Claude: Brian, you would be Pig Pen! How did you transition into becoming a professional actress, in terms of the process, from South Carolina to Hollywood?
There was a local agent in South Carolina who got me an audition for One Tree Hill. We taped the audition, and a couple of days later, I found out I got the role. We actually filmed in North Carolina. My mom and I would commute there every other week. I was thirteen then, I'm almost twenty now.
Claude: I was reading that you performed in Europe…
Actually, I performed in Les Misérables at the Fringe Festival in Scotland with my high school.
Brian: That’s impressive! I was actually Gavroche at summer theatre camp. Who did you play?
I was Cosette!
Claude: Were your parents supportive of your career in the theatre?
Absolutely. My dad said as long as I kept my grades up, I could continue. It was a couple of days into my freshman year of high school that I found out I got One Tree Hill.
I played a nerdy high school student that transitioned into a promiscuous college girl. My dad said as long as you do it on TV and not in real life, that’s ok.
Brian: You have been in the business for a while! When did you move to LA?
My mom and I would come out on and off for four years, but I didn’t really move here until I started working on my Disney show, Pair of Kings.

Chic wants to take a moment to thank the British press for its journalistic commitment to reporting the wackiest possible nonsense about Kate Moss. In an "exclusive" scoop, The News of The World reports that Kate is planning to hire the one and only Snoop Dogg to perform at her festival-style wedding to Jamie Hince on July 2nd. Of course she is! A source tells The News: "Kate's seen Snoop at loads of festivals and she really wants him at her wedding. They've had talks and Snoop loves the idea of performing." Kate also reportedly wants the remaining members of Led Zeppelin and The Gossip's Beth Ditto to perform. Take that, Kate Middleton.

Busy, busy, busy! Karl's buddy Alexa Chung appears on the cover of Vogue Korea's June issue, photographed by Alan Gelati. The 27-year-old appears to be enjoying a very Voguey summer—she also appeared on the June cover of British Vogue. The 27-year-old revealed to Shulman et al that she's working on a "secret" television project. How cryptic! It was already announced in November that her PBS show, Thrift America, would begin airing this summer...
