Why light candles for ambiance when all you need to do is turn on the tub? Glowing Bath, designed by student Melissa Sopel for the Reece Bathroom Innovation Award, is a white acrylic shell with LED lighting spilling out from underneath the tub. It illumates it in various hues, depending on your mood. And since no one goes anywhere without their iTouch and music library, you can even plug it into the tub so that the colors change to the beat of the song. Now if only the tub smelled as sweet as our favorite Diptyque candle...

Time of the Sky

Timepieces have evolved from elaborate pocketwatches to automatic wristwatches to plastic Swatches to cell phones. So imagine how pleasantly surprised we were to see this model from Japanese designer Ryohei Yoshiyuki and media artist Tomoya Kahimada called Time of the Sky II. It looks like a bracelet with a plastic square face encased in wood and set on a grey nylon band, a definite departure from the shiny metallic variety and ticking faces we wear now. Like the 24 hours of the day, the face displays 24 different colors that correspond to each heure. This is version 2.0, and the new features include a face that updates every few seconds to reveal the color of the real sky. They are even in tune to the celestial bodies: a button on the side causes a sun or moon, and its color or intensity, to be shown in the sky. The Daily is still a little befuddled as to exactly how this works and how practical it will be (how can you tell minutes or more precise increments of time?), but it certainly provides a more interesting response next time you're waiting for a late-starting show.

These protective and practical casings for men and women use luxury materials (pas de surprise for the D&G duo) so that you can tote your iPad safely in style. Python, nappa leather, and their ubiquitous leopard print compose the classic sleeves. Plus, the glossy patent cases are a bit roomier and can almost double as a briefcase, as they come avec or sans handles. Nine a.m. is an early call time for most fashionettes, but Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock appeared unfazed yesterday morning as they unveiled their new project, Vena Cava for Aqua, at Bloomingdale's Soho. Old pros at collabs (remember those graphic tribal tees and khakis they dreamed up for Gap?), the designers presented a full collection for the Bloomingdale's brand, focusing on muted tones of army green, mauve, and grey twisted into jersey dresses and the brand's signature hand-drawn prints (click gallery for a few of Chic's favorite looks). "My grandma used to take me to Bloomingdale's when I was little," shared Buhai, munching on Balthazar pastries while contemplating her travel plans. "In June, I took a 10-day road trip across Spain and the south of France, finishing in Italy," interjected Mayock."I think Barcelona was my favorite city, I'd never been to Spain. Everyone tells you about all the Gaudi architecture, and I was like, How amazing can it be? But then you go and see it in person, and it really just blows you away."

Dutch designer Iris van Herpen has teamed up with United Nude for her Fall 2010 collection, the result of which rivals Alexander McQueen's infamous hoof shoes from his Spring 2010 collection. (Click gallery for more images of the massive footwear.) Can you walk in them? That's besides the point, darlings---though the truly dedicated are welcome to try. One hundred sixty-eight pairs in black and 72 pairs in ivory will be available at select retailers and United Nude stores in Amsterdam, New York, Shanghai and Vienna for the very reasonable prix of $1,295.
