Between the new Hermes ad and this McQueen umbrella, we at Chic are embracing the Sherlock Holmes vibe with open arms. In sleek silver and black, the shiny skull handle is reminiscent of walking canes used by fine gentlemen on Savile Row before the turn of the century. Whether it's a stroll in Hyde Park or Central Park, this umbrella will do a bloody good job of keeping you dry from summer showers and fall floods. THE DETAILS: Barneys, $495

The terrifying prospect of shattered ankles is enough to keep Chic out of Daphne Guinness-esque footwear (Repettos suit us just fine, merci), but Kate Moss shows no fear in this i-D spread, shot by Nick Knight. They may not be the same pair that toppled Naomi back in the day, but the woman behind the torturous pair of shoes is the same: Dame Vivienne Westwood. Why does Viv detest our feet so? And why do we keep loving it? Click through for more of the dominatrix-y spread---Miss Moss may be working it, but the star of the show is definitely those shoes.

Ridin' the Murcielago

Hip-hop artist T-Pain crooned to millions around the world about "ridin' the Murcielago." And now, permit-toting teens can learn about the luxury car too with a mini Swarovski-excrusted version of the Lamborghini, created by Maisto. This takes model cars to a whole new level, featuring an exact replica of the Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 bejeweled with more than 7,000 Swarovski crystals. Recommended for ages 14 and over, we foresee this being a decorative play-toy for the office more than a model car the kids will play with. Zoom zoom. THE DETAILS: $2,338, www.harrods.com

Ready, set, shop: Derek Lam's Fall 2010 collection is now available at dereklam.com. The Western-inspired collection---you didn't know you needed a black cowboy hat until now, did you?---was shot by Sølve Sundsbø under creative director Doug Lloyd and fronted by Maryna Linchuk. (The Belarusian beauty may be more familiar with Minsk than the old west, but we think she pulls off country with aplomb, n'est-ce pas?) Want to hear Lam talk about his love for John Wayne and Clint Eastwood---and see Linchuk frolic around in her leathers? The brand has also launched a behind the scenes video of the campaign, which you can peruse here.

Guests brought their appetites to the Sony Screening Room Thursday afternoon for Lancôme’s special showing of Eat Pray Love for makeup artists including Sam Fine, Fulvia Farolfi, Sandy Linter, Nick Barose, Rebecca Restrepo and Rosemarie Swift. Makeup, movies and munchies….quel combination! The crowd looked supremely satisfied as they indulged in plenty of vino and plates of prosciutto pre-screening. "Just like Julia!" noted one attendee, eyeing a tower of feta. Elettra Wiedemann was one of the first supers to hit the buffet, filling up on crostinis in the spirit of the movie, which is a veritable feast for the eyes. Bon appetit!

This season, when Chic makes a journey to see the Mariinsky Orchestra and other attractions at the storied Carnegie Hall, we’ll finally have a place to indulge before all our classical bliss. Accomplished chef and sommelier Fabio Capparelli opened the doors to cityhouse earlier this summer, and the results are quite scrumptious. On a recent visit, Chic sampled everything from perfect foie gras to peppered scallops with a pop to a pan-seared piece of sea bass.  The chef’s braised specialty short ribs with potato gratin will get anyone one in the mood for three hours with Yo-Yo Ma & Co. And given that we’re sweet junkies here at Chic, the warm berry cobbler might be your ultimate midtown power lunch indulgence. THE DETAILS: cityhouse, 870 7th Avenue. (212) 707-5500
