What do Rosanne Cash and Naeem and Ranjana Khan have in common? Well, a lot of admiration from the Alzheimer's Association, to start. Last night, the Rita Hayworth Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street honored the activist designers while treating guests to a musical performance---and raising upwards of $1.4 million in the process, all of which went directly to cutting-edge research. "No overhead? For those of you business-owners in the audience, that's pretty amazing," said Alexandra Lebenthal, who gave a memorable tribute to her mother, who passed away in March after a 10-year battle with the disease. Linda Fargo, Robert Burke, and Mary Alice Stephenson took to the dance floor (along with at least 40 other women in Naeem Khan spectaculars) before the tandoori chicken was even served. Khan, meanwhile, was still glowing from his stint ringing the bell at the NYSE. "If I rang it at the wrong time, I guess it would have made a big difference in the market," he said excitedly. "I did my best!"

She may have worn an editor's hat for last night's Love magazine event at Longchamp's Madison Avenue Boutique, but her off-hours duties weren't far from Katie Grand's mind. That would be, for those unfamiliar, styling. The Marc Jacobs collaborator put together looks for Giles, Jonathan Saunders, Loewe, Louis Vuitton, Topshop Unique and Ungaro for Spring 2011---the latter being one of the most talked about shows of the season. So what did she think of (her former beau) Giles Deacon's debut?

"I think it was a good start," she told Chic. "There are so many things that you consider when you go into a house like Ungaro that has such a history. You just want to start slow and do something that you’re comfortable and confident with. We didn’t want to do a big show. We wanted to take it slowly." Particularly, we pointed out, in the wake of she-who-shall-not-be-named. "There’s been numerous designers at that house over a short amount of time, and you just want to try and create a clean slate that people respond to in a positive way," Grand said diplomatically. As for Deacon's tenure at the house? "I don’t know if any of us will be anywhere for a long time!" she said. "That’s the joy of the fashion industry—one minute you’re in and the next minute you’re out, no matter where you are. Magazines, design houses…touch wood!"
