Twitter Goes to Boom Boom

Stan D’Arde, the semi-fictional homme of the Standard hotel, recently snagged an interview with Jack Dorsey, the creator of Twitter. Perhaps less polarizing the Facebook’s own Mark Zuckerberg, he is nevertheless full of zingers. Par exemple: how does he prefer his martinis? “Up, slightly dirty.” And his favorite Stan D’Arde tweet? “Two muffins are sitting in an oven. One says “Damn! It’s hot in here!” The other muffin says, “Holy Sh*t! A TALKING MUFFIN!!!” Dorsey’s prize for best Tweeter? Alyssa Milano. Don’t despair, Stan. There’s hope yet!

Fit For A King

Whispers of "Oscar" filled the Harbor Room at the 21 Club Tuesday afternoon, during DeLeon Tequila’s luncheon for The King’s Speech, staring Colin Firth. Tom Hooper’s new film tells the tale of King George VI of England (played by Firth) and his debilitating speech impediment. "I'm just wondering when Colin is going to do some really cheeseball movie," said one guest during the salad course. As plates of beef tenderloin were cleared, another member of royalty entered the room, Harvey Weinstein, who came to congratulate and chat with Firth. The director showed off his oratory skills, announcing, “Today’s lunch makes me think of the Duke of York and how during dinners he would have to stand up and stay two words, ‘The King,’ but he lived in absolute fear because he stuttered through the ‘k’ every time. I think if he were here right now, everything would be brought to a standstill. But I’d like to do it without a stutter. I raise my glass to Colin Firth and say, 'The King.'" Firth—perhaps in character?—stayed silent and answered with a nod and smile.

Behold, an image from pages 120-121 of Selby's new book (which is all online until Friday) showing the Purple photog extraordinaire's collection of colognes...including one rather unexpected choice. Yes, up there in the top right corner: a Paris Hilton-branded fragrance. (Zahm wannabes can pick up their own for just $39.) What, no Britney Spears Curious?

The former Married With Children star and Pringle of Scotland CEO Mary-Adair Macaire (who we recently spotted while browsing coverage of the IHT's Heritage Luxury Conference in London) may not run in the same social circles, but the resemblance is uncanny, non? It must be those enviably high cheekbones!

Giuseppe Zanotti knows how to star-spangle a pair of pumps, but we love it when flats get the glitz treatment. Tonight may be the ultimate celebration of sky-high heels (otherwise known as the Victoria’s Secret Show), but we’ll be sitting pretty in our sensibly-low chaussures. THE DETAILS: Selfridges, $631
