Donna Karan's out of town, and the CFDA is in da house! Last night, DK (currently in Australia) generously loaned her gorgeous Central Park West apartment to host a reception for the newest members of the CFDA. President Diane Von Furstenberg and Steven Kolb welcomed most of the new class for champange, nibbles and some serious apartment envy. What's the view? Oh...everything. Alice + Olivia's Stacey Bendet, Eddie Borgo, Tom Shoes' Blake Mycoskie and Gregory Parkin missed the festivities, but newbies Alexa Adams, Fred Allard, Miho Aoki, Gaby Basora, Kip Chapelle, Christian Cota, Luis Fernandez, Tess Giberson, Flora Gill, Rogan Gregory, Joy Gryson, Prabal Gurung, Scott Hahn, Mara Hoffman, Jen Kao, Shaun Kearney, Andrea Lieberman, Dana Lorenz, Melissa Joy Manning, Derrick Miller, Claude Morais, Petty Perreira, Thuy Pham, Charlotte Ronson, Ippolita Rostagno, Sonja Rubin, Olivier Theyskens, Trish Westcoast Pound and Brian Wolk got to know each other and mingled with Sophie Theallet, Veronica Webb, Johan Lindeberg, Jack McCollough, Lazaro Hernandez, Rebecca Minkoff, Simon Doonan, and Victoria Bartlett. Don't worry Donna, nothing was broken.

Elie Tahari and Catherine Malandrino made their first outing last night after announcing earlier this month that he's become an investor in her company. Donna Karan's living room seemed like an opportune time to catch up with the lovely Malandrino and find out what upcoming holiday she loathes.

Congrats on your involvement with Elie!

We've known each other for more than ten years. We have a lot of mutual respect for what we have achieved.

How long has this been in the making for?

We've been thinking about it for the past few months. We have a lot to bring to each other.

What are the benefits of working together?

It will be financial support for me, and at the same time strategy support. I was very impressed with the organization that he's been able to put together. I've been looking to expand my work to a new horizon and go worldwide.

Switching gears...What are you going to be for Halloween?

I will be disappearing like a ghost. I don't like Halloween.

Why not?

It's too much. It's too commercial, it's insane. I like to get dressed up, but not at this time.

Do you ever get forced to dressed up?

No! I just refuse. The night of Halloween, I am a ghost.

What about the candy?

No. I don't like the candy either. I'm a very salty person.

Allure magazine is taking flight next September, reports WWD. First stop? Russia! The Condé Nast publication is expanding across the pond with Ksenia Solomatina, former beauty director of Russian Tatler, at the helm. Wanna see what "Allure" translates to in Russian? It looks a little something like this: привлекательность.

Olivier Theyskens: Unzipped

Gotta love an honest guy! Gotta love an honest guy!

Theory's Olivier Theyskens became a new member of the CFDA a few months ago, and joined his fellow peers at a cocktail party at Donna Karan's pad on the Upper West Side. How could we not take a moment to chat with this Belgium muffin?

How does it feel to be a member of the CFDA?

I'm super honored! It's interesting, because I've been working here for just a year and a half, and I feel so welcome. One of the the things lacking in Paris is you don't have these kinds of get togethers like tonight. It brings strength to an industry. It's fantastic.

Have you met anybody new tonight?

I've met a lot, but I always forget the names. You see people that you know or don't know well, and it's good to see them again and talk to them a little more.

Just read an interview with Forbes in which you said you could live naked.

I love to be naked! We are animals. Isn't it nice? I love the body. I love how clothes enhance the people. Just because I like being naked doesn't mean I dislike clothes.

How many hours a day are you naked?

I am sleeping naked. That's a third of my time. I love being naked at home. In Germany, on the seaside, you are allowed to be naked.

Do you think Americans are prudish about sex?

Maybe I need a few more years here to answer that. It might be a little bit true, but we shouldn't be.

Do you watch X-Factor or Two and a Half Men?

I have no TV.

What do you do to kill time besides be naked?

I don't know. What do you do when you're naked?

When Chic last met jewelry designer Melissa Joy Manning, she might have kindly told us to F-off, but last night at the CFDA party, we were chums again.

Thoughts on joining the CFDA?
I'm really excited! It was a goal for a longtime, so to finally be a member is great. I feel like I'm at the prom right now. When Steven (Kolb) first told me that I got in, I cried for a second, and he said to get it together, and not tell anyone.

What else have you been a member of in your life?
Drop out club? In high school, I was in student government.

What did you do?

I was the spirit leader, which was such a joke. I'm actually deceptively shy, but I wanted to do something in student government. I was also in a sorority for a year in college. Hated it. I dropped out. I've never been much of a club person. This is the first one that I admired and respected and wanted to be a part of.

Is this your first time at Donna Karan's house?

No, I come every week. We do pilates.

Riiiiight!

It's a lovely place, very warm.

It's a common cold-weather conundrum: how to get home without messing up your fresh pedicure? Frequent JinSoon-goers should at least think about "Bootie Pies," the boots with a collapsible front flap to expose the toes mid-pedi that cost anywhere from $68 to...$98. You can even wear them home! They come in colors like coconut creme, chocolate, and blackbery, and they "look like UGGs." Really?!
