Weekend Sales Report: Lanvin Gone, Altuzurra Partout

A weekend walk-through at Barneys New York unearthed a few revealing truths about what's selling, what's not: essentially all the good Lanvin has been snatched up in the last week. Clearly, the pre-sale crowd went crazy for Elbaz's Spring 2010 collection. Gowns? Gone. Jackets? Only a few left. Meanwhile, there's scores of Altuzarra to go around—a half-dozen suede jackets that are still weighing in around 4 figures. (It's the nature of the beast. Outerwear in June...) Meanwhile, the Isabel Marant pieces are firmly not 40% off, like almost everything else on the Co-Op floor. And while there's still an epic shoe collection, the smaller sizes are becoming decimated. Decreased orders + an economy that just might be bouncing back = do not wait for the next markdown. A summer without any new Dries? Now who can afford that?
