(PARIS) The venues and budgets are getting bigger at this year’s couture showings, but apparently that same trend does not extend to parties. There haven’t been nearly enough events at this year’s go-around to keep the party crowds satiated, and that is why last night’s Giuseppe Zanotti cocktail at The Ritz garden was so welcome. “I’m Italian, but all my life I wanted to stay close to Paris,” explained the cobbler as to his reasoning for throwing a post-Chanel affair. “It’s not just about coming here to sell shoes. It starts from seeing my first runway show here 27 years ago to sipping my first champagne at The Ritz bar during haute couture. You can almost sense all this great history here in this hotel, from Coco and beyond.”

Mélanie Laurent, Christophe Decarnin, Lou Doillon, Giovanna Battaglia, Bianca Brandolini D'adda, and Astrid Muñoz were just some of the familiar names that came to pay tribute to Zanotti and toast him with champagne, foie gras, and the entire Ritz gourmand buffet. Anja Rubik was feeling the sweets as she sampled a chocolate creation and wild strawberry mousse with her agent. “I think he wants me get fat,” she joked. “I could do it, though. My only show of the week was Chanel, though I’ve been shooting practically every day.” Anja wasn't the only model indulging: “I was in love with these ravioli,” raved Karlie Kloss. “Until they unceremoniously replaced them with sweets!”

Kloss made her way post-Chanel on a triple date with best designer friend Jason Wu and Tati Cotliar. The trio marched from the Meurice to The Ritz dressed in Wu’s resort and Zanotti heels. “This is like a Wu mafia of sorts,” laughed the designer. “I’m just so happy to finally able to go out. I’ve been here since the 2nd, got a chance to meet with every European editor here, and this is pretty much my first big outing here.”

Zanotti worked the room and caught up with everyone from Wu to Decarnin. “I don’t like to squeeze myself so hard, work-wise,” he smiled. “I like to work slowly but effectively. I might be old, but at heart I’m like a teenager. I have a lot to give!” Meanwhile, Alex de Betak was just enjoying the perfect breeze at the garden. “If I ruled fashion, I would make Fashion Week exactly like this,” he sighed. “Only one time a year, in one city…Paris in July. That’s how it always should be.”
