Tribeca Report: Lela Rose Hosts a Dinner for Edible Schoolyard NYC
If you've ever wandered down White Street in Tribeca and wondered, "Is it a gallery? A store? An office?" upon encountering the art-filled first floor of a particularly gorgeous cast iron loft building, Chic can decisively report that it is, in fact, a private home. On Tuesday night, designer Lela Rose and her husband Brandon Jones invited fashion and food types to chez eux for a fall dinner in honor of Edible Schoolyard NYC, an org that partners with public schools to install gardens and kitchen classrooms and enable children to make healthy eating choices. Beth Blake, David Maupin, and Fernanda Niven co-hosted the event, which raised $130,000 and was catered by ABC Kitchen's superstar chef Dan Kluger. There were no crab toasts with lemon aioli to enjoy, but there were plenty of indulgences to enjoy, including "addictive" cocktails from PDT's Jim Meehan. Deborah Needleman and Stefano Tonchi caught up to discuss, in all likelihood, the myriad pleasures of EIC-dom, while Tribeca residents grilled the All Good Things guys about the opening date for their upcoming restaurant.
