Before Tommy Hilfiger took to the podium last night to accept the Pratt Legends award, he admitted to Chic that he used to get a bad case of the pre-speech jitters. “I did suffer from stage fright a little in the early days. I remember the first time I was on Good Morning America about thirty years ago, and I had such awful dry mouth," said the designer. "I could hardly talk! But after a while you get over it and realize it’s all about just being yourself.” The annual benefit raises money for student scholarships, and Hilfiger also confessed that he wasn’t always at the head of the class. “I was a terrible student," he said with a smile. "I could never focus on class. My mind was always somewhere else, thinking about the future. I like to call them ‘creative daydreams,’ if you will.”
