Nolita was were it was at on Wednesday night, cheris: Either you were wondering what the heck the insane line situation on Mott and Prince Streets was all about, or you'd made it past the (school)gates and were reveling in the awesomeness that was The Cools' first-ever Jamboree, taking over The Old School with 15K square feet worth of classrooms and courtyard filled with art, tacos, and beats, to celebrate the launch of The Cools website this week. The courtyard scene: feisty, with cig smoking and beer shotgunning abounding on the ground, as hip folks draped limbs and ducked heads out of the classroom windows surrounding the yard. More bluntly, this is probs your dream high school (it is ours!), where reggae music pipes from the windows of Miss Lily's classroom (bonus: a festive Jamaican flag-esque lighting scheme), skateboarders weave through another room, ramps and all, there's a rave down the hall, and your homeroom pals are the likes of Carolyn Murphy, Waris Ahluwalia, Stephanie LaCava, Shala Monroque, Sean Avery, Lauren Remington Platt, and Erin Fetherston (who's also an "advisor" figure for the new site). Chic's so wishing class were in sesh every day...'til the next Jamboree, cheris!
