Temperature Rising
(NEW YORK) The hipsters stormed Don Hill’s last night for “The Nur Khan Sessions,” a pre-renovation celebration presented by DeLeón Tequila. Fans and friends flooded into Nur Khan’s and Paul Sevigny’s most recent venture for a rare live performance by The Dead Weather, Jack White’s band consisting of White, Alison Mosshart of The Kills, Dean Fertita of Queens of the Stone Age, and The Raconteurs' Jack Lawrence. Revelers including Liv Tyler and Alexandra Richards sweated it out in the underground club, refreshing themselves with tequila until well past the midnight hour. The sweltering summer night gave new meaning to the term “dead weather,” but spirits remained lively.
Fans had no problem patiently waiting for White to make an appearance on stage, and Michael Pitt congregated by the exit for more than the requisite number of smoke breaks. Zoe Kravitz languidly lounged in a booth, while Jeff Halmos of Shipley and Halmos and Lisa Mayock of Vena Cava staked out a spot front and center. “Tonight is a refresher course for me,” smiled Mayock who explained she had never seen the band live before. Halmos was just happy to make the most of summer’s dog days. “We took a vacation at the beginning in June to start things off with a bang, but now it’s back to work mode.” Not a soul was in work mode last night, as The Dead Weather rocked out until the early morning hours. Alan Eckstein of Timo Weiland was near giddy. “I’m a huge Jack White fan. He was this super, magical force during my high school career!”
