One structural casualty of Sandy that hasn't been getting mainstream attention is the destruction of the Ali Forney Center in Chelsea, the only NYC homeless shelter for LGBT teens and young adults in Manhattan that was flooded and destroyed last week. The organization counts Hamish Bowles, the Costello Tagliapietra boys, Parker Posey, Alan Cumming, Mickey Boardman, Number:LAB's Luis Fernandez, Ruffian's Claude Morais and Brian Wolk, Chris Salgardo of Kiehl's, and Francesco Clark as loyal supporters. The timeline to complete and reopen the center could be more than six months, and can't happen without contributions. On Sunday, a benefit to raise funds for them will be held at Industry Bar on 52nd Street at 4 p.m. Tix are only $20 and you can RSVP HERE. We're pretty sure you'll know everybody there!
