Sailing With Giorgio
Giorgio Armani has always been quite the sporting type (he created the uniforms for Italy's 1994 World Cup soccer team, and those for Britain's Newcastle United team in 1999, among other things), but this time, he's set his sights on sailing. The designer announced this morning that EA7 Emporio Armani would be the official supplier of technical clothing for the sailing crew of the Azzurra sailing team, starting with the Louis Vuitton Trophy races off the Sardinian island of La Maddelena. "I am very pleased with this new collaboration that demonstrates our determination to unite the philosophy of EA7, the cutting edge brand in the field of technical sports clothing of the highest quality, with the experience and competitive spirit of the all-Italian Azzurra team," Armani said in a statement. Didn't make the team this year? (Don't worry, Chic's partial to spectatorship as well.) A special Azzurra-inspired EA7 capsule collection has been created, on sale at select Emporio Armani stores in June.
