(NEW YORK) Ruffian
The Ruffian duo of Brian Wolk and Claude Morais chose Exit Art, a stripped down space on West 36th Street, to show their Big Bang collection. The ground that the two have covered since their humble neckpiece beginnings is staggering, and if their latest line is any indication, the sky’s the limit for Ruffian. The duo though, might say the sky would be selling them short. With ‘Big Bang,’ they look all the way to the cosmos for inspiration playing on the evolution of different societies’ views of the stars throughout the ages. Fans sitting in the front row on white benches felt the strong progression in the line as it moved from Victorian-age, celestial-inspired silk tops paired with heavy jackets, to bolder, sequined looks and more obvious prints, some pulled straight from the contours of the crescent moon. Ruffian’s signature neckpieces were a staple throughout in bright hues with names like Amethyst Mohair and Orion Nebula.

Christian Siriano
Christian Siriano is now becoming a staple of the Bryant Park tents each year and his line looked like that of a seasoned veteran. Celebs packed in tight to the promenade to get a first look at Siriano's new shoe line for Payless. The shoes, Siriano said, were inspired by 'antique old fashioned Parisian furniture' and everyone in the front row was eyeing the heel detail. Mena Suvari was already sporting a pair. Siriano's boyfriend, a ring designer, wore another hat for his favorite designer's big show—he was in charge of music. The pulsing sounds set off Siriano's collection which celebrated women who used to 'get dressed every day' which the designer said has been lost a bit. "Part of it is because of the economy," he admits. "But people have been getting really casual. You can never be overdressed." Despite a slight hiccup by Sessilee Lopez in the final piece, a fuchsia scalloped tulle gown put an exclamation point on the aggressive line. Siriano's mom was the first to give a standing ovation, but it wasn't long before others followed suit.
