(NEW YORK) Rebecca Taylor
If you crave something joyful, then Rebecca Taylor delivers. Pretty lavender and airy blue hues were peppy without ever being prissy, and feather-adorned shifts never felt frilly. Floral mini-dresses were sweet but not saccharine. Bursts of animal print are essentially a given at any Rebecca Taylor runway show, and this season she did not disappoint. Leopard jackets added oomph to a pair of skinnies or formal shorts. While Taylor stayed true to her love of leopard, she did veer into a new realm, opting for skirts rather than frothy frocks. Whether tweed or leather, Taylor championed the skirt this season, adding depth and texture to each ensemble that sailed down the runway.

With lasers acting as runway borders, Yohji Yamamoto showed an ambitious collection for Adidas that blended fashion and sport in conceps only this designer can execute. Hightop sneakers were a starting point. They were paired with loose sweats and oversized windbreakers in the three-stripe motif, which also popped up inside pockets. The show was littered with playful typeography on the heels of shoes and t-shirts, i.e. "25 years in prison – 22 = Y-3" and "Y dash 3." Before the finale, a group of models ran a "suicide" to one end of the hardwood court and back, stripping off their jackets midway. The spectacle ended with choreographed kung fu showdowns between Yamamoto and models.
