(NEW YORK) Matthew Ames
Matthew Ames cleverly played with woman's essentials this season--jackets, trousers, and shirts--and presented his clean ideals in the clearest way possible. The strength in the show laid in his admirable work with leather, and his pastel jackets looked breezy and desirable. His white silk turtlenecks were underrated and his wide pants were overstated. But beyond some questionable styling choices, Ames' collection presented a strong and confident vision, one that we'd like to see develop into a fruitful career.

Jason Wu for TSE
Yes, Jason Wu is a big enough name now to present two collections in a single Gotham season--and he's mature enough to pull it off. His first big collaboration with TSE played to his luxurious strengths while delivering great knitwear and lasting signature closet staples. Many highlights included tweed capes, smart wrap dresses, oversized sweaters- all in solid and innovative tones.
