Ode to Scandinavia
(NEW YORK) “Follow the strobe lights,” advised one reveler last night during the VMAN Scandinavian Summer Issue party at Good Units at the Hudson Hotel. For its latest issue, VMAN highlights all things Northern Europe, brands like Bruuns Bazaar, Cheap Monday, Hummel and Tiger of Sweden compris. To fête the Nordic theme, guests including Johan Lindeberg, Prabal Gurung, Phillip Lim and Richard Chai followed the flashing lights to the hotel’s underground club.
The crowd swayed to the sounds of singer Cookie and Scandinavian rock band New Politics and a special fashion show took over the arena well into the evening. Anna Van Ravenstein and Pat Cleveland sailed down the runway, hand-in-hand, clad in identical ensembles. Sounds of Swedish chatter filled room, as did the potent menthol aroma of chewing tobacco. Yes, packages of Swedish snuff brand General White Portion were handed out pre-show, and partygoers relaxed, rolled up their sleeves and kicked back with a bottle of Corona. You don’t have to hail from Scandinavia to party like the Swedes!
