(NEW YORK) For a fashion week debut, Marcella Lindeberg’s Paris68 sure attracted a powerhouse audience--her front row boasted Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel, Stefano Tonchi, Nina Garcia, Terry Richardson, Olivier Zahm and Carine Roitfeld.
“This is something that Marcella’s had in her big brain for a very long time, so I’m very happy that everyone’s getting to see it,” Timberlake said. “I’ve seen sketches of it for quite awhile!” Timberlake happily greeted guests and took photos despite a late night at his William Rast after party at Hudson Terrace the evening before. (He gave an impromptu performance around 2 a.m..) “We always throw a great party. When have we ever thrown a bad party?" he joked. "I take that back--we may have thrown a bad party once or twice, but we try not to."
“It was only six to seven months of working, but it’s been a long process in my mind,” Lindeberg said. “It took me three or four years to find the confidence to actually launch it. Not the confidence, but the maturity, really. It was about time. It had to get out.” Paris68 creative director Marcella Lindeberg and her husband Johan helped launch Justin Timberlake’s William Rast line and remain part of the design team. “I think what Marcella does so well is she gives an edge to women’s fit,” Timberlake lauded. That’s something I really love about her. But this is completely different from William Rast.” Lindeberg described the William Rast aesthetic as “biker culture meets rat pack.” Paris68 combines comfort with structure, largely pairing leggings, mini-skirts and legging mini-skirt hybrids with blazers and leather jackets.
“This is very personal. It’s like how I dress every day,” Lindeberg said, noting her love of leggings. “I’m an '80s girl, and you can’t deny it.” If the show turn-out is any indication of the Paris68’s support base, we can be expecting Marcella to be bringing us these hits for quite some time.
