Lunching Ladies (For a Cause!)
What brought Reem Acra and Cynthia Nixon together yesterday afternoon at the Pierre? Beth Israel Medical Center and St. Luke's and Roosevelt Hospitals' annual Breast Service Luncheon. The actress, a breast cancer survivor who was treated at St. Luke's, gave the keynote address and stressed the importance of early and regular mammograms as members of the medical community and supporters of the cause dined on chicken and orzo with arugula salad. By the time dessert was passed, Acra moved backstage and prepared her models to debut her Fall 2010 collection for guests. A raised runway snaked through the Pierre's grand ballroom, and audible gasps accompanied several looks, including a gold, sequined minidress with a draped, slouchy top. The event's founding chairman? None other than chic pioneer Grace Mirabella. No wonder everything was so good-looking!
