(NEW YORK) Those headed to Milan post-London can breathe easier, as two major show shiftings have given show-goers a little extra leeway. Prada and Fendi, which were slated to show on February 26 and 27, respectively, have both moved their shows to Thursday, February 25. Although Milan fashion week technically begins on February 24, the packed schedule on the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of February 26-28 meant that editors were scrambling, even missing major shows. “It was the only intelligent thing to do,” said a Prada spokeperson. “We moved in order to make everyone’s life easier and especially out of respect for those designers whose work would otherwise be penalized.” A Fendi spokesperson added, “When asked to support the Italian fashion system in such a particular moment, [Fendi] felt it was crucial to give its contribution. As an Italian brand, Fendi wanted to pay respect to all the people and institutions involved in the industry. Appreciation for Prada, who joined forces in this effort.”

The scheduling frenzy was sparked by Anna Wintour, who recently said that she would shorten her visit to Milan to the three-day weekend in the expectation that the major shows would accomodate her. According to the Telegraph, Mario Boselli, president of the Italian Fashion Chamber, said, "She wants designers to schedule their shows during these three days. It has bad consequences for many, many people involved in the shows, from stylists to models to hairdressers. It's absolutely crazy. She's welcome in Milan but if she only comes for a fleeting visit, perhaps it would be better if she stayed at home." With Fendi and Prada refusing to comply with the three-day weekend, will Wintour miss two of Milan's major shows?
