Julian Casablancas: Still Alternative

IPhone apps have become de rigueur for those fashion lines looking to keep up with the technological Joneses—but not all of them also team up with musicians. Alternative Apparel is partnering with Strokes singer Julian Casablancas for a new promotion for both the musician/producer and the tee brand, where fans of both can enter to win prizes just by downloading the app. (BlackBerry users, don’t fret: you can enter too by submitting an entry form on the Alternative website.) Among the loot set to be given away: Casablancas’ new solo album, Phrazes for the Young, an Alternative Apparel tee signed by the singer, a $200 Alternative Apparel gift card, and more—plus, two grand prize winners will be picked (one from the website entries, one from the iPhone app entries) to receive gift packs.

“We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Julian Casablancas, one of the music industry’s most influential and well-respected artists,” said Alternative founder and chief creative officer Greg Alterman. “Alternative has a long history of partnering with musicians due to the shared creative connection.” The last day to enter the contest is April 4, 2010, and the contest winners will be announced on April 6.
