(NEW YORK) “I closed the show with Jenny Shimizu, who’s really a muse for me. I love her style. I love what she’s about,” said John Bartlett. “She depicts the kind of woman that I am dressing. It’s no frills, no high heels, no beading, no ruffles. That is my motto.” Clearly, Bartlett stayed true to his credo. Natural, windburnt men and women walked the runway in unadorned country club regalia with a well-edited color palette of navy, cocoa, eggplant, burnt orange, mushroom, and olive. The Harvard grad look-a-likes strutted past in preppy tweed, leather, or corduroy trousers (some of the cropped variety) with belted blazers and fitted vests layered over simple turtlenecks and button-downs. The pièce de résistance? For men, Bartlett’s polished plaid dress coat stole the show while an elegant high-waisted wool skirt paired with a leather button-down became the envy of every woman sitting in the front row.
