It's always nice to see a familiar face on an island, so Chic was delighted to see the lovely Charlotte Ronson showing her collection during Aruba InStyle's recent event. We caught up with her backstage during the presentation of her Spring 2013 looks to talk island life and dirty bananas.

What did you think when you got invited to Aruba?
It's starting to get cold in New York, so it was the perfect time to come. I had never been here before, and it's always exciting to go to a new place. It's also a good opportunity for me to spread my line.

Thoughts on the island?
It's pretty amazing. It's filled with so many different types of people and so many different languages. Some places you can figure out in a day or two, but here you can really spend a lot of time and get to explore. I'm having the best time. Even just staring at the ocean meeting the sky, I could do that for days.

Do you have a favorite island drink?
I just tried something called a Dirty Banana.

What's in that?
Bailey's Irish Cream and chocolate fudge around the glass. It was basically dessert.

What have you eaten today?
I had apples, Raisin Bran with no milk, and Caesar salad. The salad's good at my hotel. For dinner I had a mish mosh of salad, pasta, and a burger. You gotta eat!

What do you do on the beach?
Sadly I didn't pick up a book because I read a lot of my books on my iPad, but you can't do that in the sun. I lay out, look at my phone, talk to the people around me, and go in the water. I enjoy doing nothing, but it makes you really tired.
