Hilaria Baldwin (yep, that's Alec Baldwin's boo!) made a pit-stop in Midtown earlier this week to unveil her new pet-friendly collab with PETA at The Body Shop on 6th Ave. The arbiter of fitness lent a hand to help create the company's first-ever Global Guide to Cruelty Free Cosmetics featuring a roundup of the most up-to-date brands that don't test on animals, plus a list of vegan-approved ones. (Hurray!) We caught up with Mrs. Baldwin after the launch to get le scoop.

How's married life going?
It's great! It's hard to believe we've only been married a short time. It feels like we've been married forever...in a good way. When it's right, it's right.

You're a longtime PETA supporter. How long have you been a vegetarian?
My family wasn't vegetarian growing up, but when I was five-year-old, I went to my first sleepover. The girl's family just happened to be trying out vegetarianism the week I was there. During dinner they were talking about different eating habits and saying all these radical things. I had never put it together that meat came from animals. I had wanted to be a vet, so when I heard that I decided then and there that I wasn't going to eat any more meat.

How'd that go over?
I came home and went up to my mother, who was in medical school, and my father, who was trying hard to support the family. I said, 'I no longer eat meat!' They said, 'Yes, you do.' I went on a hunger strike, and would sit in front of my meal every night and cry. They realized I was serious when I stopped eating, so they went out and found this thing called tofu that no one had heard of before. One day, they'd give it to me with soy sauce; the other day with ketchup. It wasn't a very good meal, but it was the best they knew.

What are your eating habits now?
When I was 20, my brother became a macrobiotic nutritionist and convinced me to give up dairy. The past few years, I've become vegan.

What are your husband's eating habits? He's looking fit as a fiddle!
He can eat whatever he wants! He actually doesn't eat red meat. Alec will eat eggs, but I got him to give up dairy. That was a big factor in his weight loss.

What cruelty-free beauty brands do you stock up on?
Everyone laughs at me because I've been given the fanciest creams, especially the past couple years, but I've loved Burt's Bees for 12 years. The Carrot Nutritive Day Cream is incredible. I don't go anywhere without it. It moisturizes without being heavy. I love the eye shadows from Urban Decay, and I've gotten turned on by Aveda the last couple years. People also always ask me what perfume I wear. It's Sea Island by Bath and Body Works. It's the best smell ever!

OK, let's get serious. What was the name of your first pet?
Fluffy, the bunny. I had a lot of little pets.

Do you prefer cats or dogs?
I'm a dog person. Alec and I have two little dogs. I appreciate cats, but I'm allergic.

What's your spirit animal?
I love being in the water, so maybe a dolphin. They're so friendly.

What about Alec Baldwin?
My husband would be a lion, because he's got a big personality!
