Growing Up Westwood
Not every editor was thrilled with having to show ID to get into the Vivienne Westwood show (the horror!), but it was at the British Ambassador's residence in Paris, so we sucked it up. Before the show Chic caught up with Georgia May Jagger, who shares quite a history with the designer.
Are you a Vivienne Westwood girl?
I'd have to say that I'm the ultimate Vivienne Westwood girl, because I've worn her before any young person would.
How long would that be?
She made me an outfit when I was 8. I complained to Vivienne that she had made my sister and my mom these big ball gowns for this party. I was very sassy back then; I said to her, "I don't think you're a real designer because you haven't made me a dress!" She came back a few months later with this mini plum-colored Vivienne Westwood dress.
You obviously grew up knowing her!
I did. She came to Thanksgiving and Christmas every year.
What does Vivienne eat at Thanksgiving?
My Mom's Texan, so we have turkey. The usual stuff.
How would you describe Vivienne?
She's an incredibly intelligent person, far beyond the realm of fashion. She's very inspiring to me!
