Chic Book Club: The 411 on Flirtexting
Prowess in the retail or runway circuits is one thing we're feeling pretty OK about here at Daily HQ. But navigating the dating world is a completely different story, especially in the age of textable, tweetable everything. Ever heard of "flirtexting"? Nope, we hadn't either. But dating expert Debra Goldstein, who's penned stuff for glossies like Cosmo, Glamour, and InStyle, paired up with the founder of the "flirtext" term, Olivia Baniuszewicz, on Flirtexting: How to Text Your Way into His Heart, a petite-sized guide on the subject, with a forward by ELLE's cheeky advice doyenne E. Jean. A few teasers to satiate the single masses? To utilize Facebook for romance purposes: "searching through your friends' photo albums for hot guys is an efficient way to look for love." And some post-breakup wisdom: "We find ourselves having to breakup twice: once in real life and once digitally (detag)!" Also, smartphones and Sidecars can be a lethal combo, apparently: "Friends don't let friends T.U.I. (Text Under The Influence)". So, it may not be the next Pulitzer Prize winner; but next time our BFF gets dumped via text, we'll have a witty retort on the ready.
