For World Cup fans, perhaps the greatest viewing party outside of South Africa or Spain took place yesterday at at Cipriani Wall Street’s Ballroom. Hublot became the first luxury watch brand ever to become the official timekeeper of the FIFA World Cup, and to celebrate, the company threw a series of viewing parties here in the city---but none better than yesterday’s afternoon’s final between Spain and the Netherlands. “Our ballroom is the closest thing to the South African stadium,” assured Giuseppe Cipriani, and for good reason. The bash featured music by a live DJ and lighting guru, seas of confetti, a Wii station, vuvuzelas, Dutch and Spanish-themed feather boas, and of course, that great food. The Cipriani staff served pastas, fresh prosciutto and mozzarella, salad and dessert galore, and more bellinis than guests like Steve Nash and Damon Dash could down. “We are happy to offer this experience to Hublot and World Cup fans alike," Hublot CEO Jean-Claude Biver told Chic from South Africa. “It reminds me of a saying I heard a few days ago from a big soccer fan: 'The Earth is round because God loves soccer.'"
