(NEW YORK) It may be finally warming up in New York, but this weekend, slews of chicsters are decamping for the West Coast. What gives? Coachella, the three-day music festival smack in the middle of the desert in Indio, California. The website might say that tickets are sold out, but a bit of eBay sleuthing unearthed a few stragglers (though at a price). So what are you waiting for, darlings? The festivities start tomorrow, and we bet Henry Holland and Rebecca Minkoff would let you bunk with them…
Jay-Z’s appearance on Friday has us crossing our fingers for a Beyonce sighting, though we’ll do with La Roux. Ra Ra Riot, who just took the stage at Loft’s party last night, will take the Mojave stage, and your crushes on both M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel will be stoked when She & Him appear on the Outdoor stage. More Daily picks: Yeasayer, Vampire Weekend, Passion Pit, LCD Soundsystem, Imogen Heap, Grizzly Bear, and Fever Ray.
Corinne Bailey Rae may lack the street cred of, say, the Dirty Projectors, but she does have that suspicious Vuitton connection, so she might be one to watch. The Gossip is also up on the Mojave stage today—and we all know how Karl loves Beth Ditto. Beat the heat and impending exhaustion with a relaxing set by Scottish pop band Camera Obscura, or check out Jack White’s new band, the Dead Weather, on the Outdoor stage. More Daily picks: White Rabbits, Beach House, Die Antwoord, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, MGMT, John Waters, and DEVO—for an 80s blast from the past.
If you want the chicest of Coachella, then Nicolas Ghesquière bestie and Jane Birkin offspring Charlotte Gainsbourg can’t be beat—although Little Boots, who’ll be on the Gobi stage, did make the rounds at this season’s fashion weeks. Buzzy band Florence and the Machine will also take the Gobi stage, and old faves Spoon, on the Coachella stage, will never let you down. More Daily picks: Deerhunter, Julian Casablancas, Matt & Kim, Miike Snow, Phoenix, and Yo La Tengo.
One of the coolest cats in the biz is Dennis Basso, and today...
Twenty years and who’s counting? INTERMIX is, darlings! And...
