(NEW YORK) Friends toasted Ruben Toledo Monday evening at Indochine, as the artist celebrated a 10-year partnership with Nordstrom and his latest hardback illustration book, The Fashion Almanac, which is divided into four seasonal chapters with a foreword by Anna Wintour. “It’s always a pleasure to encounter clothes Toledo-style—Ruben Toledo, that is, whose magically urbane illustrations have captured style, both high and low, for decades,” she writes. Guests shook off their umbrellas and relaxed in a booth over shrimp skewers and vino. Both Toledos were their usual animated selves, but the two were far from anxious about the inclement weather, quite the contrary—they were loving it. “The weather is so perfect and fitting!” Isabel explained and Ruben smiled, “You got it!”

While perhaps the fashion set didn’t appreciate the evening shower as much as the Toledos, the crowd was certainly in high spirits, especially those who could kick back, relax and consider the hard work done. Many are still burning the midnight oil, but designers who have already showed their collections, like Peter Som, stepped out for the soiree and a glass of champers. Toledo continued, “For me, this was my take on a Farmer’s Almanac. You know how nature changes constantly, and this kind of thing is what fashion is all about. You don’t expect it, and then bam, wow, there it is!”
