Anonymous Pleasures
"Did you see my porn installation?" exclaimed Sante D'Orazio to, well, anyone who would listen last night. The famous snapper (above, with Donald Baechler) was one of the highlighted artist featured in the In Dialogue exhibition at the Anonymous Gallery---and he might have stolen the show, thanks to his dual priest portraits of Matthew Barney and Damien Hirst, and that little X-rated photo and video showcase in the back of the gallery. Guests like Waris and Magnus Berger ate both up. "I grew up a Catholic boy in Brooklyn," explained D'Orazio. "My mother prayed three times a day, and my dad had a porn collection in the basement. Today, I'm paying tribute to both!"
