And So the "Black Swan" Reviews Begin!
The fashion world has breathlessly awaited tonight's premiere of Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan. And why not? It covers most of the topics worthy of our perennial obsession—extreme beauty, fraught competition, impossible standards, performance anxiety—and star Natalie Portman, as dancer Nina, is wearing Rodarte costumes while performing in the ballet Swan Lake! But beginning with David Denby, the critics are weighing in. "Black Swan is every bit as beautiful as a tray of Russian Easter eggs," he cackles in the New Yorker. "Maybe someone should crack one of them on Aronofsky’s noggin and bring him to his senses." Worth a read!
