A Night at the YSL Opera
(NEW YORK) For the third consecutive year, Yves Saint Laurent will serve as the exclusive corporate sponsor of the Metropolitan Opera gala premiere, cementing its long-term commitment to the organization. On Monday, April 12, YSL will host a black-tie opening of Rossini's Armida, starring Renee Fleming and directed by Mary Zimmerman. And naturally, plenty of bold-faced names have been summoned to Lincoln Center for the cause. Stefano Pilati will fly to New York for the occasion, as he will welcome Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard, Patricia Clarkson, Chloë Sevigny, Bette Midler, Ginnifer Goodwin, Emily Mortimer, Camilla Belle, Patricia Clarkson, Parker Posey, and Julianna Margulies to the Met alongside YSL's CEO Valérie Hermann. Mostly YSL-clad guests will indulge in a quick dinner before before settling in for a grand performance at 8 p.m.. If it's anything as exciting as the September premiere of Tosca, well, prepare yourselves for drame. Even those of vous who aren't opera fanatics surely know that general manager Peter Gelb's first year in full creative control has been making news---even without all the fashion gloss.
