A Moment With...Olivier Theyskens
The Daily caught up with Olivier Theyskens last night at Barneys, as friends toasted the designer during the book launch of Olivier Theyskens, The Other Side of the Picture hosted by Simon Doonan and Julie Gilhart.
Congratulations on your book launch!
I am so happy tonight! It’s amazing that this book is out. I’m particularly happy because I love Julien Claessens, the photographer.
How long have you two been good friends?
Oh, he is a really close friend of mine, and for fifteen years he has followed my work, attended my shows and taken pictures. I think the way he transcribed my universe into pictures is very beautiful. I am very happy tonight!
What are you looking forward to doing while in New York?
I need to come here at least every two months! It is one of my favorite places ever, so I’m loving being here right now.
Any favorite haunts you can’t wait to hit?
I can’t wait to go out and eat! There was this special tomato dish I recently had, but I try to go somewhere new every time. People always present me with new places. It’s all a fusion in my mind of the delicious places you can go.
Were you a voracious reader growing up?
I don’t have any particular books or authors that resonated with me the most in my mind at the moment, but I did read a lot growing up.
